My 4-year-old son wasn’t ready for breakfast 10 minutes ago when I was going to make it for him. But now that I’m feeding his sister, he is ready. First, I hear the fridge (choosing his fruit) then I hear the freezer open. Next, the step stool slides across the kitchen floor. I look over and he has his kid size oven mitt on and is opening the toaster oven to heat up a waffle. He catches me watching and says “Mommy I wore this in case the toaster was hot” I love that he is self-sufficient. And pretty clever too!! Thanks, Mighty Oaks Montessori. 🙂
